The castle is at the end of the Mosel, in a forest on a steep rock. With its eight pointed towers it is one of Germany's most beautiful and best preserved castles and so worth a visit. It has been the residence of the Eltz graves since 1157. It was built for 500 years, resulting in both medieval and Renaissance-style buildings. Around the imposing castle square are the eight residential towers. Inside there is noble residential culture for centuries to admire. In the treasury are artifacts of gold and silver, ivory and porcelain as well as historical weapons stored.
