Sunwapta Falls on the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park include higher and lower waterfalls fed by the Athabasca Glacier. The top waterfalls, easily accessible from the car park at the viewing point, have an impressive 18 m decline. After a 1.3 km walk through a pivotal forest you reach the lower waterfall, which in fact consists of three waterfalls spread across the Sunwapta River. Visit the falls in late spring or early summer when the snow melts the hardest.
