Aegidium

16 februari, 2023
The Aegidium is a Brussels building that was built in 1905 by the architect Guillaume Segers. Aegidium has served for nightlife, cinema (under the name of Diamont Palace), barroom and projection booth. In the end it became a meeting place for the local population, where all kinds of parochial and social activities took place. It closed its doors for good in 1985. And several owners wanted to restore this listed building for a new destination. However, the costs were estimated at 5 to 6 million euros and abandoned this expensive project. Today, Aegidium is owned by real estate companies Cohabs and Alphastone. They are planning thirty homes with communal areas, a café-restaurant, a coffee bar, a library, a fab lab, an exhibition space and a roof terrace. Today you can take a guided tour or legally visit as a photographer.
