The right stuff 1947
Small Project I am working on to test myself in toning and edit. I think its important to keep doing this and keep making personal projects.
When I was a kid I was kind of a plane geek, I also love the old story's of adventures and people breaking the limits. This Particular project Is a ode to the man and women involved breaking the sound barrier. You might know the story of Chuck Yeager a decorated WW2 fighter pilot who in 1947 broke the sound barrier in the Bell X-1. A very primitive, yet advanced plane for its time.
Last week I was in a Dutch aviation museum and I was wondering around inside an old DC3 and when I looked out of the window I remembered a picture of the X-1 being released from its mothership. (I think I thought of it cos of the Spaceshiptwo crash). When home I started to work, I realize it was possible to make something like that old black and white picture. I gave it my own impression since I have no Idea of the exact conditions those days. I am pretty pleased with how it looks so far.
I will post the pictures I used in the comments.
To be completely honest the three planes are images from google, since It's near to impossible to get those pictures myself. (the X-1 Is a scalded model) I altered the B29 bomber to make it look similar to one of the original ones used..
I often end up in a discusion if this kind of work is still photography. What do you guys think?
