Window to Space

Omschrijving in het engels: This Monday I came back from a 23 days holiday in Bali & Lombok. I find it always exciting to go far away from home because you can get to photograph subjects you can't or almost can't photograph back at home. One of those subject is of course, the milky way. Since I live in the Netherlands I often don't get the chance to capture the milky way very good because of the light pollution of the big cities and greenhouses.For my trip in this part of Indonesia I was planning to be at the Gili Islands around new moon so the milky way would be clearly visible.. and yet it was! I didn't have a particular foreground subject at the moment but I was fortunate to find an isolated tree which was standing in the ocean during high tide (like it shows in the picture) and luckily the milky way was exactly above the tree at around 10:00pm. This picture is a single exposure of 25 seconds with an ISO of 2000 and 4000K WB. This was also the first time I tested my new Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 (which is also the aperture setting I used for the shot). I really like a somewhat more realistic milky way with the colder tones so I didn't go to much overboard with the post processing of the milky way. Luckily the tree was illuminated by some lights of a beach club in the distance, so I was glad it could all fit into a single exposure this time. Hope you like it
