Mamiya 645

I have been capturing the world through my lens since 1970. My journey in photography began at school in Delft and continued in the darkrooms of film processing laboratories, where I worked for five years. Although my career took me into the IT industry, photography has always remained my passion. In the beginning, I worked exclusively with analogue film, developing and printing my own colour photos in complete darkness. Later, I embraced digital photography and alongside my work in IT banking, I took on various assignments - mainly product photography and the occasional wedding (no, don't ask, the answer is no). Travelling always means bringing a camera. Depending on the trip, that's a compact point-and-shoot or a more serious set-up for the safaris we occasionally go on. Africa is a recurring theme in my work, not only through personal travel, but also (since 2009) through my professional renewable energy projects in Rwanda and the years I lived there. More recently, the darkroom has made a comeback in my house - this time only for black-and-white photography. My favorite tools? A ridiculously heavy 4.5x6 medium format camera and my Durst M601.
